Since 1950, a Lysaght has been practicing law in New York.  Founding Partner James Donovan Lysaght is a third generation attorney carrying on that family legacy and Lysaght Law is the most recent firm iteration of that professional work history.

Lysaght Law offers a broad range of services encompassing representation of clients in legal negotiations and court proceedings such as lawsuits or arbitrations.

 

In addition, drafting legal documents necessary to bring about various transactions from conveying land to effecting corporate matters, preparing legal opinions on various points of law, drafting wills and other estate-planning documents, and giving legal advice to clients on their questions.

 

At Lysaght Law, clients pay for experienced attorneys, they are not paying junior associates at large firms to learn on their important legal and business matters.

AIG Selling Mortgage Insurance Unit for $3.4 Billion

 

American International Group Inc announced it would sell United Guaranty Corp., their mortgage-guaranty unit, to Arch Capital Group Ltd for about $3.4 billion.  The deal comes as the largest commercial insurer works in sweeping overhaul promised to shareholders to fend off activist investor looking to break free from having to comply with the strict capital requirements of a systemically important financial institution.

Posner Opinion: Class Action ‘no better than a racket’

 

Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Richard Posner wrote majority opinion in a class action shareholder lawsuit settled 3 weeks after filing with a benefit to the lawyers of $370,000 and nil to the class that no class action settlement yielding “zero benefits for the class should be approved, and a class action that seeks only worthless benefits for the class should be dismissed out of hand.”
